By going on quests, gaining experience, earning gold, and purchasing increasingly powerful weapons, players can work their way up to these higher levels.
At Artix Entertainment creators of AdventureQuest work continuously at making new quests to stay ahead of avid players and keep the game interesting. There are many updates, levels, and special events to entice players to remain engrossed in the game.
AdventureQuest may be played free on one’s web browser. For an introduction to AQ, see Adventure Quest Free Online RPG. Players may also purchase a Guardian upgrade, discussed in the article Adventure Quest Online RPG Guardianship.
How many levels are there in the AQ online RPG? The Executive Game Administrator at Artix says, “AdventureQuest has a total of 130 levels. Level 54 is just entering what is considered the "mid-levels", generally level 50 to level 90.”
According to a level 54 AQ RPG player “Hikhok" (AQ Guardian, July 25, 2008), “As a Guardian at this level, you get special items and weapons that allow you to cause more damage. You gain extra quests and the ability to fight new wicked, devious and sometimes simply hungry opponents. The game gets cooler and cooler as you level up and get to battle more challenging enemies.”
What are Hikhok’s favorite aspects of being a Guardian player in the mid-levels of AdventureQuest RPG? “As I have gone up in level, I have unlocked powerful creatures to aid me and powerful weapons to annihilate those who stand in my way. My very favorite weapon is the Guardian Blade that became more potent when I reached level 40. I can’t wait until my Guardian Blade becomes the Blade of Awe, which will happen when I finish collecting all its pieces.”
While some of this may seem a bit morbid and violent, the adventures, quests, and battles in AQ always manage to contain a bit of droll, well-written humor to lighten the tension.
Artix is not only the company name, but also the pseudonym of the Project Lead/Creator of AdventureQuest. Artix is also the name of a popular and particularly humorous AdventureQuest RPG computer character. ‘Artix’ can be asked to join the player on quests.
One example of the humorous dialog in this online RPG follows:
Artix (facing creepy creatures): “Certainly…let us just…walk right past these undead monsters…without…attacking them…even a little bit…”
(The player’s character automatically says, “Artix…are you alright?”)
Artix (Trembling with the desire to attack?): “Yes. I just…just need to…to…to RID THE WORLD OF THESE SERVANTS OF EVIL! ATTACK!”
The player’s avatar role-playing character can endlessly join with pets and friends like Artix in quests to conquer monsters. AdventureQuest is, after all, a battle of good over evil.
Some insider information from Artix Entertainment:
“Later in July and August [2008] will see the beginning of a new storyline involving the heirs of Nightbane (who is a powerful yet flawed character-- a dracopyre who is part werewolf, vampire, and dragon. He died during the Dveourer Saga.) New fun storylines revolving around dragons and undead will also begin, as well as a deepening of the No Man's Land story introduced with the rebuilding of Granemor this past week.”
RPG fans can soon play hero in the new MMORPG AQWorlds, allowing for massively multi-player online interaction. Look for information on AQWorlds at the AdventureQuest website and in the article AQWorlds Final Alpha Testing July 2008.
