Online Role Playing Games or RPGs, are designed to make the player feel like they are in another world. To add to this experience is the chance to create a character, or avatar, which represents the player in the game world and acts in place of the individual. With a brief description even a new player can join in the fun. To begin, the player will need to know their personal play style. The typical RPG has four distinct classes to choose from. The best choice is the one that will give the player the most enjoyment. Direct Fighter Style in RPGsThere is usually a direct fighter type in RPGs. This individual can take a lot of hits and gives them right back. He can be a little slower than other groups and does a little less damage in comparison. The benefit is that he can last longer in tough fights than most of the other classes. Also referred to as a tank, this individual starts most fights while in a group. The other members remain somewhat safe behind the sheer power of the tank. While strong he is not indestructible. He can suffer against distance fighter, especially if they can stop the tank from reaching them quickly. Indirect Fighter Style in RPGsThe indirect fighter attacks from a distance. He is usually quick and can strike before others are aware of his presence. An indirect fighter should not have a lot of damage done to them but can provide a lot of support for the tank. As an indirect fighter, the role in a group is simple. Hit the enemy from a distance and don’t stop until the group wins. It is a great beginning role to pick for individuals new to the game. It is difficult to hurt the group and watching other classes in action can be a great learning tool. An indirect fighter can be in trouble in a direct fight since they work the best from far way. Offensive Caster Style in RPGsThis class is similar to an indirect fighter but magic or spell will be used in the place of distance weapons. Attacking from a distance offers a great advantage to this class. Linking to a tank is a good technique for this class as well. As an offensive caster, damage is the name of the game. This class usually does the most damage possible in the game world but there is a tradeoff. In fights, both direct and indirect attacks are deadly because the protection obtained through this class is almost zero. The key to this class is to do as much damage in the shortest amount of time and end the fight before it starts. Any attacks can be dangerous with little protection. Defensive Caster Style in RPGsWith a defensive caster the player has a unique role. The life of the group is often in the hands of this class. Increasing protection in fights and healing group members all comes from the defensive caster. This caster is the life force of the group. With this in mind, this class often has very little attack power. Any attack against this class is almost certain defeat. Pairing with any attacker can be a powerful combination. This is a very active play style because the player needs to focus on the enemy as well as the group. For individuals playing this class, avoiding fights while preserving the other group members is the key to success. With this information, the only choice is the style the player would like best. They all have certain advantages and disadvantages but the player needs to be able to use the class specific skills appropriately. There is nothing wrong with asking questions and learning how different people use various classes. There are also many sites that offer additional hints for specific games. Ultimately, remember the game world is there to be enjoyed so have fun.
