Common Armor Guide in Runescape

Know What Types Any Character Can Wear

Dec 27, 2008 Tina Samuels

Find out all about what the differences are between the common armor that anyone can wear in the free MMO game of Runescape.

Runescape is a free MMO game where a player’s character comes through battles and quests to build up their stats and defense (or armor). It is this armor that can usually have requirements to be satisfied before it can be worn.

There are three item types in armor that any character in the game of Runescape can wear. These are found as drops or as items that can be received after the completion of a quest. They are for both members and non members to be found, regardless for their character class.

Robes

Robes aren’t really an armor but there is a large number of people that will wear robes throughout their stay in Runescape. If the character isn’t getting into the Pking (player killing) or in high end battles they have more allowance on what they can and cannot wear through the game.

This category will include the wizard and priest robes, monk and Fremennik Robes, the gnome clothing items, mime items, and the rest of the “robe-like” items that will not really add any stats or defense to the character. There are both robes that are for members only and robes that can be worn by F2P (free to play) characters.

Fremennik Helm

The Fremennik helm can be bought after the quest of the “Fremennik Trials” are completed. They have more defense than a rune full helm (and are similar to the adamant helms in stats and quality) and there are several different types.

The type of these helms is dependant upon the class of combat that the character engages in. They are quite expensive, but many feel that they are worth it. These are just for members and you can get these as a drop from the guards and the dagannoths.

Rogue Armor

This is a weaker armor type and light in weight. This isn’t a tradable armor type, and is received at the Rogue’s Den. Generally a worthless item as it isn’t good for any type of combat. It consists of the rogue’s mask, rogue’s gloves, rogue’s body, rogue’s boots, and rogue’s trousers. It is for members only and not for F2P characters.

Runescape Armor

No matter which of the above three types are worn, the character will be ever evolving through the game and will be changing several times until the best armor is found. Many like to alter their appearance depending on what they are doing. This can mean robes and costumes throughout the land and then donning actual defense armor while engaging in battles.
