A look at the Diablo II character of the Sorceress and what it does in the RPG game.

Diablo II is a fantasy RPG game from the same makers of World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo. Blizzard Entertainment put out Diablo II in 2000 along with one expansion set in 2001 called Lords of Destruction.

It has both single player and multiplayer aspects, with an online game with dedicated servers that are brought to the player for free on Battle.net. This free online game play aspect is what the big draw to Diablo over some World of Warcraft type (WOW costs $15 a month to its 11 million subscribers) games are. Blizzard has named a new, Diablo III, game in the series to be put out in the near future. This information dropped in June of 2008.

The Sorceress

The Sorceress character class deals with spells and magical trickery. She is a female avatar and voiced by Liana Young. It is said that she comes from a coven of witches that received their powers from a male mage clan of the East.

She can call upon all the elements to be part of her arsenal of damage, from ice, to lightning, to fire. She has few hitpoints to her defense, but she is one of the more massive damage dealers in the game. There are also some extra “armor” abilities to the Sorceress that will shroud her in extra damage fighting blocks. All spells and skills fall within three skill sets, and these just are the types of spells that she’ll be able to use. These three “trees” of skills are Cold, Lightning, and Fire.

Cold Skills

These include the skills of Ice bolt, Frozen Armor, Frost Nova, Ice Blast, Shiver Armor, Glacial Spike, Blizzard, Chilling Armor, Frozen Org, and Cold Mastery.

Lightning Skills

These skills will include the Nova, Telekinesis, Static Field, Charged Bolt, Lightning, Chain Lightning, Teleport, Thunder Storm, Energy Shield, and Lightning Mastery.

Fire Skills

These include the skills of Fire Bolt, Warmth, Inferno, Blaze, Fire Ball, Fire Wall, Enchant, Meteor, Fire Mastery, and Hydra.

As can be seen there are offensive and defensive methods to the sorceress. Some foes can be beat down with a rain of fire, and some just need to be slowed with cold. Lightning is always a helpful skill, especially with chain lightning and its ability to hit more than one target.

This can be customized well within the player’s game style and playing habits. Some just pour their points into a single tree and become a more “pure” magic dealer.
