New Races and Class Combos in World of WarcraftCataclysm Expansion Pack Adds More Content to WoW
Blizzard Entertainment will add two new races and more race/class options to its popular massively multi-player online roleplaying game with World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
With over 11 million subscribers a month, World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment's incredibly successful online role-playing game, is one of the most popular video games to come out in recent years. It's previous expansion packs, The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, continued to increase its popularity. Cataclysm will be the game's third expansion since it was released in 2004, and promises many updates to the game. Two of the most popular are the addition of the goblin and worgen races, as well as the ability to create characters from races and classes that have existed throughout the game's history, but were previously unavailable together. New Horde Race: GoblinsGoblins have traditionally been the merchants of WoW, unwilling to choose one faction over another because they learned working with both the Alliance and the Horde would double their earnings. That is, until Cataclysm, when goblins will rejoin the Horde as allies instead of slaves. According to new Warcraft lore, the goblins end their neutrality when unexpected Alliance tactics cause unprofitable outings that make the prices of trade goods to drop. As former slaves who mined voodoo minerals for the trolls, goblins were affected by those minerals in ways that made them masters of engineering. Their home city will be called Undermine, a place that once shackled them that now makes them stronger. Classes available to goblins will be death knight, hunter, mage, priest, rogue, shaman, warlock and warrior. A popular nonplayable race since the game's inception, fans have repeatedly requested a goblin playable race. Seems like soon they will get their wish. New Alliance Race: WorgenLittle is known about the origins of the mysterious worgen and what information does exist is speculative. What is certain, however, is that the worgen are ferocious fighters that inspire fear on both sides. Their presence in Kalimdor might be connected to the night elves and a secret druidic order. Other World of Warcraft lore puts them in the Eastern Kingdom where they are used as a weapon against the Scourge. Using the worgen as a weapon backfired when a curse spread throughout the human race, transforming some into the feral beasts. Classes available to worgen will be death knight, druid, hunter, mage, priest, rogue, warlock and warrior. New Class and Race CombinationsFor citizens of Azeroth who are bigger fans of the original races (gnome, dwarf, human, night elf, orc, tauren, troll and undead), the Catacysm expansion pack will offer new race and class combinations to choose from, many of which have also been heavily requested by players. Dwarf mages, for instance, were last seen in WoW beta, and much missed by those who played them. Additional options for Alliance players include:

WoW: Cataclysm InformationThe details of the latest World of Warcraft expansion pack were released at Blizzcon 2009, Blizzard Entertainment's annual event that celebrates its three major product lines: Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo. Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime revealed during a DirecTV interview that the projected release date for the new WoW expansion is November 2010. This date is a target for the company. Though the company wants to have World of Warcraft: Cataclysm ready by then, it is still too early to set that time period in stone. That being said, WoW players will have a lot to talk about until it hits shelves. Let the anticipation begin.
