Find out here what the differences are between the types of gloves and gauntlets in the free mmo game of Runescape.

Gloves and Gauntlets in Runescape come in many forms. Which ones are right for a warrior? A mage? A ranger? Which ones will help a certain skill; which ones for a certain stat? This should explain the various types of gloves/gauntlets that can be used in the free MMO game of Runescape.

Glove/Gauntlet Types

Gloves are nice items that can buff certain player aspects. Some don’t change a thing but will look good on the player. It is up to the player to determine what aspect they will choose in selecting handwraps. Most gloves or gauntlets can be put into three categories; lesser level gloves, mid level gloves, and higher level gloves.

Lesser Level Gloves

These are either the bare basic gloves you can have in the game (leather and colored) or slightly above that mark.

  • Leather Gloves – These are the lowest level of gloves a player can obtain and they have nearly no defense at all.
  • Colored Gloves – These are like the lower level leather gloves, but are dyed. They are not going to offer any buffs at all. These can be found to help match armor a bit better than traditional leather gloves.
  • Splitbark Gloves – These gloves will give you a little defense and are good wearing gloves for a character.

Mid Level Gloves

These are gloves and gauntlets that are indeed better in quality and effects than the lower level gloves, but don't match the stat abilities of the higher level gloves.

  • Vambraces – These gloves will give a little more defense and a ranged weapon bonus. The highest grade of these, dragon vambraces, will offer magic protection and higher defense abilities.
  • Mystic Gloves – These gloves have a negligible amount of magic bonus but zero protection. They are dropped from slayers or purchased at the Magic Guild.
  • Ice Gloves – Received from the Heroes Quest ice queen. Decent defense and the ability to touch hot items easily are given.

Higher Level Gloves

These are some of the finest gauntlets in the game. They have either intense prestige in the game, or wonderful protection/stat bonuses to the player.

  • Klank’s Gauntlets – Touted as some of the “best gloves in game” these are bought and help a player navigate and survive in the Underground Pass quest.
  • Steel Gauntlets – After the quest of “Family Crest” you can enchant them as cooking, magic, or crafting and have the same buffs as the Klank’s Gauntlets. Good to buff a profession needing a bit of a boost.
  • Armored Gloves – Bought but not able to be traded, these are received from the Recipe for Disaster quest. These will range from normal gloves, bronze gloves, iron gloves, steel gloves, black gloves, mithril gloves, adamant gloves, rune gloves, dragon gloves, and Barrows gloves.

Overview

For the most part, gloves in Runescape are mostly for looks or to give a slight boost to a skill or stat. Unless one uses the higher level gloves (the Armored Barrows or the Steel) they really aren’t going to be a factoring different in game play. There are many named gloves and gauntlets in the game, and all will fall into one of the above categories. Try a free round or two of this great mmorpg game today.
