Find out all about what the differences are between the types of helms/hats/masks in the free MMO game Runescape.
There are many different types of hats, masks, and helmets that can be worn in Runescape. Some of these are rare bragging rights (the party hats), some are going to be good for armor or stat boosts, and some are just plain fun. Whatever the reason behind it, everyone wants a good hat to wear.
This article introduces the different types of head and face wear available to Runescape players.
Hats for Fun
These hats have little to no actual use in the game, but they are tons of fun when players just want to goof and have fun.
Party Hats – These hats, also called partyhats, are just for bragging rights and offer no defense at all. They are, however, the best rare out there.
Santa Hat – No defense, but festive, it too is a rare hat. Good to keep in a bank and dust off for the holidays.
Halloween Masks – These too are non-useful but fun little hats for the holidays. Also good for a laugh or three.
Bunny Ears – Another fun, untradeable, non-bonus hat that is used for festive fun.
Pirate Hats, Berets, Headband wraps, Highway man Masks – These are from Treasure Trails and are only good for a laugh.
Chompy Hats – Another no bonus hat that is dropped by Chompy kills.
Goblin Mining Helmet – This is an iron helm from the Lost Tribe Quest and the goblin miners. The light can be lit with at least a minimum of 65 in Firemaking.
Desert Disguise – This gives the player a little fake beard and is given in the Feud quest in the game.
Good Helmets in Game
These helms are good quality and can give some useful items to the player that wears it.
Medium Helmets – These are smaller than the full helms, but they won’t do as much damage to the magic skill or the ranged weapon skill as the full helms. They will offer less bonuses.
Full, or Large, Helmets – These have better buffs than a medium, are going to make mage or ranger skill less useful, but offer more protector to the player.
Tiaras – These silver headwraps are small and sweet, offering no good defense, but gives extra item space while the player is runecrafting.
Steel and Mithril Quality Helms
These helmets are very good quality and are used for defense against specific creatures or events.
Golden Helmet – The same quality as a steel helm or a mithril helm, it was designed to do the “Between a Rock” quest.
Spiny Helmet – The same quality as a steel helm, it is used as a defense against combat with the wall beasts.
Bearhead – After the Mountain Daughter quest is completed, the player can get this. It is untradeable and of the mithril and steel quality.
Overview
There are several good helms and hats that can be worn. You can choose to boost your stats and skills with a specific helm, or boost your mood and happiness with things like partyhats. Either way, there is no right or wrong way, and the player is free to choose whatever whim he/she feels like wearing.
